Lithuanian champions FBK Kaunas are coming to terms with the sudden death of striker Audrius Slekys.
FBK Kaunas are set to face Celtic in second qualifying round of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The player (28) was killed when his car left the road on Sunday morning and collided with a concrete structure. He was on his way to his summer house near Kaunas to meet his wife and other relatives.
Slekys, who was alone in the vehicle, died at the scene.
The player had been with Kaunas since 1999 and won three league championships with the club.
He was the top scorer in Lithuania last season with 19 goals and had already notched five during the current campaign before breaking his toe in June.
Celtic offered their sympathy to the club. A spokesperson said: "We are deeply shocked to hear of the tragic death of Audrius Slekys. The thoughts of everyone at Celtic are with his family, loved ones and team-mates at this terrible time".
