It's not often that one encounters performers whose introductory remarks are as entertaining as their songs. This is the case with Susannah de Wrixon (right) who amuses her audience with little biographical sketches of Eartha Kitt, Cole Porter, Peggy Lee or even Jacques Brel before going on to sing their songs.
Her singing voice has a good range and she creates an intimate, convivial atmosphere in Bewley's Cafe Theatre, Grafton St every Thursday night for a limited run.
Formerly of the The Nualas stand-up comedy trio, de Wrixon laughs at herself in self-parody on occasion, which adds to the relaxed summertime mood of her Cafe Cabaret show. Cian Boylan (piano), Andy McDonald (bass) and Tom Dunne (drums) also get an opportunity to show off their virtuosity on occasion.
