London - Two packed commuter trains collided last night, causing chaos on one of London's busiest transport links.

Five people were injured as a Thameslink train and Connex South Eastern service had a "glancing" collision on elevated track outside London Bridge Station shortly before 5.30 p.m. Dozens of emergency service workers tried to help about 200 passengers trapped on both eight-carriage trains.

Railtrack and the two train operating companies immediately announced investigations into the crash, as travellers told of an apparent last moment bid to avoid the impact.
