A 44-year-old man has been remanded on bail after he was charged following a threat to burn down a kebab shop in Cork city centre.
Kiyasettin Gungor, a Turkish national, was charged with causing criminal damage to the Istanbul restaurant on Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork yesterday.
Det Garda Darragh Murray gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court that Mr Gungor made no reply after the charge was put him after caution.
Insp Billy Duane said gardaí had no objection to bail once certain conditions were met and Mr Gungor had agreed to abide by these conditions.
These included that he stay out of and away from Istanbul restaurants on Oliver Plunkett Street and Washington Street in Cork and John's Street in Waterford.
Mr Gungor also agreed to reside at addresses at Washington Court in Cork and John's Avenue in Waterford, said Insp Duane.
Judge Leo Malone remanded Mr Gungor on his own bail of €100 to appear again at Cork District Court on October 7th.
