A chef who stabbed a tourist in an argument over skipping a Temple Bar nightclub cloakroom queue has been jailed for a year by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Mohemmad Barouche (27), of Innisfallen Parade, Dublin, pleaded guilty to stabbing Mr Warren O'Hara outside the Club M nightclub on November 20th, 1997.

Judge Frank O'Donnell said an Australian ended up stabbed. He believed Barouche carried the knife for the purpose for which he used it.

Mr Patrick Marrinan, defending, said Barouche, from Algeria, had applied for refugee status and had married an Irish woman.
