Chelsea have suspended nine fans from future club games following trouble at the League Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge three weeks ago.
"Five Chelsea season ticket holders and four members have been suspended by the club and are likely to be banned for lengthy periods," Chelsea said in a statement in the match programme for last night's 2-0 win over Leeds.
Spurs striker Les Ferdinand narrowly escaped injury when a plastic bottle was hurled from the crowd during the game and coins were thrown at Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Chelsea named three of the nine fans in the programme. One was alleged to have thrown a bottle.
