Chelsea 3 Portsmouth 0
Chelsea bounced back from Friday's mauling by Charlton Athletic with an emphatic 3-0 win over Portsmouth.
Chelsea, whose 4-2 defeat by Charlton was their second loss in three league games, were kept scoreless until a second half blitz from defender Wayne Bridge and midfielders Frank Lampard and Geremi.
Chelsea took the lead after 63 minutes and it came from the most unlikely source. England full-back Wayne Bridge stormed down the left flank before cutting inside to unleash a left-foot shot which fizzed past Wapenaar in to the far corner of the net.
It was Bridge's first Premiership goal for Chelsea and it came at a time when the Londoners were growing increasingly frustrated by a Portsmouth side who had shown huge endeavour.
Chelsea added to their tally in the 70th minute when Mutu sent through the irrepressible Lampard who fired a superb right-foot shot into the net for Chelsea's second.
Chelsea's third came after 80 minutes when Geremi unleashed a spectacular 25-yard volley which rocketed over Wapenaar's outstretched hand in to the Portsmouth net.
