A three-year-old girl has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was attacked by a dog in Northern Ireland.
The child suffered wounds to her neck, head and face after she was bitten by a Japanese Akita type dog at about 11.30am in the Keery Road area of Magheramason, Co Derry.
The little girl was walking her own dog with a member of her family when she was attacked.
Police said the animal was put down after the incident.
Police said she is being treated in hospital but her condition is not thought to be life threatening.
