Shanghai - A Chinese dissident who has spent more than a decade in jail for his political activities was allowed to leave the US yesterday, human rights activists said.
Mr Xu Shuiliang, a "democracy Wall" veteran, accompanied by his wife and son, were schedules to board a flight bound for Los Angeles, though his departure could not be confirmed. Mr Xu (52), from the eastern city of Nanjing, is the latest dissident allowed to leave the country in a policy shift towards political activists by China, a frequent object of human rights criticism.
