Beijing - The first Chinese reporters allowed into Taiwan to cover news for a sustained period in more than 50 years arrived on the island yesterday, Miriam Donohoe reports. The two journalists from the official Chinese news agency, Xinhua, will stay in Taiwan and cover news for up to a month.
The move is the latest in a series of goodwill exchanges between China and Taiwan. On Tuesday a mainland Chinese ship made the first legal crossing to the island since the split in 1949.
