British broadcaster Keith Chegwin was caught up in a cyberspace war today as

hackers sabotaged his website with an obscene message.

The presenter, who has been fronting his own Internet programmes from home, has been hit twice before by what is thought to be a group of Chinese computer hackers.

Fans of the Channel 5 host were greeted with a black screen and the hackers' message when they logged on to his site www.cheggersbedroom.comthis morning.

A spokesman for Mr Chegwin said the site had been attacked by anti-US hackers following the spy plane stand-off last month.

He said the site had become a big hit in the US which had led the Chinese computer buffs to mistake Cheggers's nationality.

A group known as the Honker Union of China is striking top official US sites in a tit-for tat cyberspace war with Poizonbox, a US group of hackers, after the plane drama.

Targets so far have included the White House and House of Representatives websites. Mr Chegwin said:"I can't believe how many people want to get into my bedroom. I've been hacked but I'm still intact."

Mr Mike Hornsby, director of Procreate the technical firm behind cheggersbedroom.com, said: "Cheggersbedroom.com has got caught up in it by being highly successful in the USA and the hackers assumed he was based in America.

"It's a technical issue and we are improving our security to fend off further attacks."
