Virgin Radio in Britain has dismissed multi-millionaire DJ Chris Evans after he failed to show up for his breakfast show six times.
In a statement a short time ago, a spokesman for the station said the high-profile appearances of Mr Evans in public while on sick leave were not the reason for the station's decision, although they "obviously brought it to a head".
Evans had been spotted repeatedly out drinking and was reportedly seen stocking up on alcohol at a supermarket near his Surrey home on Tuesday .
Evans was quoted in the Mirroras saying that although he wanted to return to work, Virgin do not want him back.
"I've been ill and there is a doctor in my kitchen right now who will confirm that to anyone. I won't say what's been wrong with me but I've not been well enough to do my show and that's that," he said.
