The Irish music industry is to honour veteran singer Christy Moore by making him the first recipient of an annual award.
Moore, a performer for four decades, will receive the accolade from the Irish Recorded Music Association, which represents Ireland's top national and international acts.
In association with MasterCard, IRMA plan to make the award an annual event after honouring Moore at an invitation-only occasion in Dublin at the end of next month.
The event will also benefit two charities, the Chernobyl Children's Project and Dublin's Crumlin Children's Hospital.
