In a millennium ecumenical project, five south Dublin Catholic and Church of Ireland parishes have raised over £105,000 for the Simon Community. The money is to be used to refurbish the Simon hostel on Usher's Quay.
The Rathfarnham Church of Ireland parish; the parish of the Holy Spirit, Ballyroan; the Good Shepherd parish in Churchtown; the Church of the Annunciation in Rathfarnham, and the St Pius X parish in Templeogue had undertaken to raise £50,000 to help Simon. However, according to Rev Ted Woods, rector of Rathfarnham, the response exceeded expectations.
