Customs officers yesterday seized 160,000 contraband cigarettes in Dublin airport.
The cigarettes were seized from two flights that had arrived from the Canary Islands. The Revenue's Customs Service said the operation targeted organised smuggling gangs.
They haul - which included "Palace", "Dorchester", "Mayfair" and "Marlboro" brands - was valued at approximately €61,987.
Ten people - including eight from the North, one from Cork and one from the Canary Islands - were questioned, and files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
