The Cistercians of the Isles are the subject of this year's Roscrea Autumn Conference at Mount St Joseph Abbey, Co Tipperary. The conference will examine various aspects of the history of the Cistercian Order in medieval Europe, especially Scotland.
The conference, which starts this evening and runs until Sunday, includes a lecture by Prof Roger Stalley, of the History of Art Department in TCD, on cloisters and their origin and development in the medieval world. Other lecturers include Mr Ian Fisher of the National Monuments Record of Scotland, and Dr John Feehan of UCD's Environment Institute.
