A forklift driver, who allegedly suffered respiratory injuries when he became stuck in a spillage of quick-drying Superglue, has settled his damages claim against his employer.

Mr Paul Douglas, of Abbotstown Drive, Finglas West, Dublin, had claimed he became trapped when he went to the rescue of a woman who was stuck on all fours in the glue.

Mr Douglas, a forklift driver with Loctite (Ireland) Ltd., Kylemore Park, Ballyfermot, claimed he had seen a drum of Superglue spill and run out the gate of Loctite's premises on to the footpath and road.

He had seen a woman walk in it and, as she struggled, she had become stuck fast on all fours. Mr Douglas had gone in to rescue her and had also stuck fast. He claimed in his Civil Bill that as he was held fast in the spillage he suffered respiratory injuries from inhaling the glue fumes.

Judge John O'Hagan was told in the Circuit Civil Court that, following talks between the parties, Mr Douglas's action had been settled for an undisclosed amount, and the proceedings could be struck out. Loctite had filed a full defence to the action in which it denied liability for Mr Douglas's injuries.
