Clare 1-15 Galway 0-17
Colin Lynch's point 15 seconds from the end of injury time capped an enthralling comeback by Clare to send them into the semifinal to face Waterford, at the expense of neighbours Galway this evening.
The Banner County were fortunate to be trailing by three points at the end of the first half after being second to every breaking ball.
But some inspiring words from Cyril Lyons at half time proved to be the key as Clare came out firing for the second half. Galway though didn’t flinch and an end to end point rally was the result.
Jamsie O’Connor led the line for Clare and his influence seemed to rub off on his teammates, who followed suit.
Galway and especially Eugene Cloonan will rue some missed chances in the second half but despite this Cyril Lyons thinks that they may have been hard done by.
"A draw was probably a fairer result on the day," admitted Lyons.
One man, however, who made sure today was Colm Lynch. His cool strike under pressure, with seconds remaining, was the difference.
