Clare captain Seán McMahon can breathe a sigh of relief today following the news that he will not serve the anticipated 12 week ban arising from his sending off in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last week.

The Games Administration Committee instead ruled on the minimum four week ban for McMahon's off-the-ball clash with Conor Gleeson.

It is believed that, in his report, referee Aodhán Mac Suibhne cited the player for dangerous play rather than striking - an offence which usually carries a 12 week penalty.

McMahon will miss Clare's Munster semi-final clash with Cork on June 8th but will be available for the provincial final or the All-Ireland qualifiers depending on the semi-final result.
