REVIEW: Clare Maguire - 2fm Hotpress Academy Stage, Friday

Atmosphere: A stage decked out in red flowers and a few hundred fans lapping up the bass-heavy dramatic pop songs of the BBC Sound of 2011 list graduate. Plus two men dressed in ill-fitting tiger suits enjoying themselves a bit too much.

High: a nearly-dubstep intro leading to her best tune, Aint Nobody.

Low: An off-key and screechy cover of Kanye West's Love Lockdown.

Quote of the set: "Come on Dublin!" Someone tell Clare to check her Google Maps app.

Overall: The three hits were great; Aint Nobody, The Last Dance and closer The Shield and the Sword, but in-between those there wasn't a large amount to enjoy. Maguire still hasn't found her niche, and the unfortunate reality is, there are plenty of her peers playing the game with far better results.
