Darren Clarke is the best of the Irish at the Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth - on eight under after nine holes of the final round at the West course.
However Clarke remains seven shots behind the leader, South Africa's Trevor Immelmann, who birdied the second this afternoon to bring his score to 15-under, three shots ahead of Spain's Ignacio Garrido.
The Ulsterman's mixed form yesterday - which saw him forfeit his halfway leader spot - continued into the fourth round. Despite taking birdies on the fourth and eighth, three bogies - on the first, the third and the seventh - have seen Clarke on one-over for the day.
Meanwhile, Paul McGinley remains on six-under after 14 holes. Three birdies - on the fourth, the eighth and the 12th, were balanced out by three early bogies - on the third, the fifth and the sixth, to leave him on par for the round, with four shots left to play.
Earlier, Ronan Rafferty carded five birdies to finish his fourth round on three-under, closing with a tournament score of six-under.
