Darren Clarke shot a final round of 66 to finish The Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters at the Marriott Forest of Arden club on eight under this afternoon.
The Dungannon man carded only one bogey after a hugely disappointing first three rounds, in a tournament he was tipped to win, to finish five behind tournament leader Greg Owen.
Birdies on the second and third got Clarke underway and though he dropped a shot immediately afterwards on the fourth, the Irishman birdied that eighth to turn in 34.
An eagle on the 12th then set the tone for the back nine that saw him birdie the last two holes and gain a much needed fillip after a slow start to the competition.
Meanwhile Dubliner Peter Lawrie finished his tournament on three under following a level par final round, while Damian McGrane ended with a disappointing 75 to post a score of three over.
The final duo of Owen and Ian Poulter both parred there opening hole, with Owen still leading by four.
