If you're planning to gorge yourself by attending the Borodin Quartet's complete cycle of the Shostakovich quartets in Bantry later this month, you can get an advance sampling of the Russian approach to Russian chamber music at DCU tonight. The Moscow Piano Trio (above), 32 years old this year, and with the same membership for nearly a quarter of a century, is the leading Russian ensemble of its kind, and can be heard in a free concert of Haydn, Shostakovich (the war-time Trio in E minor) and Mendelssohn.
