A cable manufacturing company in Co Galway is to make 20 people redundant over the next week or so.
Stephen Bullock, managing director of Silcotec in An Cheathrú Rua, said that the company had offered voluntary redundancy packages to cut the 75-strong workforce by 20.
Mr Bullock told ireland.comthat the job cuts were part of an attempt by the firm to reduce its cost base to meet challenges from competitors in Asia.
Silcotec manufacturers equipment for the medical, defence and aerospace sectors.
