A Co Galway woman charged in connection with a plot to smuggle guns into Ireland from the United States was freed on bail by the Special Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday. Ms Jacqueline McIntyre (33), from Spiddal, with an address at Knock Holiday Homes, Inverin, Co Galway, was charged last Friday with possession of three Luger .357 Magnum revolvers, three Glock semi-automatic pistols and 120 rounds of .40 Smith and Wesson ammunition on July 27th.
The court heard that Ms McIntyre, who has a three-month-old son, had been living in rented accommodation in Inverin. The court was told the child's father was living in the United States but that Ms McIntyre had left him. She was freed on independent bail of £20,000 and her own bond of £2,000. She was also ordered to surrender her passport and to report twice a week to Spiddal Garda station. She was remanded until October 12th.
