Tallinn - Preliminary results last night from Estonia's general election showed the Centre Party of former prime minister Mr Edgar Savisaar set to top the poll with 24.6 per cent of the vote, but a centrist coalition was positioned to form a government without him.
With a third of votes counted, the centre Moderates on followed 16.83 per cent, the right-wing Pro Patria Union on 14.92 per cent and Reform on 14.58 per cent. The Coalition Party of the Prime Minister, Mr Mart Siimann, polled 8.50 per cent.
