Bogota - The Colombian Defence Minister, Mr Rodrigo Lloreda, has resigned in protest at the latest development in peace talks between the country's government and guerrilla rebels. Mr Lloreda is against the government's agreement to prolong, for an "indefinite" period, its demilitarisation of a 42,000 sq km area.
Mr Lloreda said his decision to resign yesterday stemmed from "differences of opinion" between himself and President Andres Pastrana.
