NEW DELHI - An Indian group yesterday asked the New Delhi High Court to order the demolition of a British built structure in the heart of the Indian capital, saying it was a reminder of colonial rule.
The All India Freedom Fighters Association, comprising people who fought against British rule, said a redstone canopy near the India Gate - a first World War memorial - must go.
The association wants the canopy to be demolished and replaced with a giant statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
