ANKARA - The Turkish parliament yesterday passed an Islamist motion to set up a commission to investigate corruption charges against the former prime minister, Ms Tansu filler.
Deputies voted 232-179 for an inquiry into alleged links between Ms Ciller and contract irregularities at the state run electricity distribution company. Approval of the motion in a secret ballot suggested that deputies from Ms Ciller's new coalition partner, Motherland Party (A NAP), abandoned her.
