A video which depicts scenes of cruelty involving animals has been received by the Irish Masters of Foxhounds Association (IMFA). The three-hour tape, allegedly involving some of the country's hunts, was conveyed to the IMFA from the Association of Hunt Saboteurs through the RTE Daily Record programme.
Mr James Norton, of the IMFA said that following media reports, it had set up a sub-committee to investigate allegations of animal cruelty involving members and that the video would be submitted to this group. He said as soon as the sub-committee completes its investigation, the IMFA would issue another statement.
Yesterday, the Irish Council Against Blood Sports submitted a copy of the video to the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern. A Government spokesman said Mr Ahern would view the video when he returned from holidays.
