About 900 recipients off short term disability benefit will not receive their cheques in the post until Monday, rather than today, because of a computer fault in the Department of Social Welfare.

A spokeswoman for the Department regretted the delay and said those affected could go to their local community welfare officer to get a supplementary welfare allowance. They could also contact the Department today at 01 6797777.
