Ireland is lagging behind the rest of Europe when it comes to broadband.
New figures from the telecoms watchdog Comreg show that over 65 per cent of houses with internet access don't have a broadband connection.
A total of 46 per cent of people surveyed say broadband is still not available in their area and 12 per cent say the technology is too expensive.
One in three dial-up customers have applied for the service but can't get it. Younger users tend to use a time based packages while older users tend to go for an "always on" agreement.
