New Delhi - India's Congress party yesterday expelled three dissident members who questioned the credentials of the Italian-born party president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, to project herself as the prime ministerial candidate in September's general election, writes Rahul Bedi.
The former defence minister, Mr Sharad Pawar, a former parliamentary speaker, Mr P. A. Sangma, and a former party spokesman were dropped from the party for six years by the Congress Working Committee meeting in an emergency session yesterday.
