New Delhi - India's Congress Party brought the fragile ruling coalition a step closer to collapse yesterday, threatening to withdraw its vital support if a southern regional party was not expelled from the government.
But the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) said it would not quit following the release of a 17-volume report which said the party had provided "tacit" support for Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers and the suspected assassins of a former prime minister, Mr Rajiv Gandhi, in 1991.
