AIM-listed Irish zinc explorer Connemara Mining said today it has discovered another high grade zinc-lead mineralisation in Limerick.

Recent drilling to the southwest of the Stonepark North discovery zone, intersected additional high grade zinc-lead mineralisation. These new intersections are of a similar style, and occur at a similar depth, to the previously reported intersections at Stonepark North - suggesting either a significant extension to the zone or the discovery of a new zone

Hole 53 intersected 6.85m at 10.47 per cent zinc and 3.68 per cent lead from 209.4m, including a high-grade 2.75m interval at 19.76 per cent zinc and 6.99 per cent lead from 212.8m.

Hole 51 was drilled approximately 150m south of hole 53 and intersected 7.55m at 4.88 per cent zinc and 1.49 per cent lead from 221.4m, including a 1.0m interval at 21.90 per cent zinc and 7.26 per cent lead from 224.05m.

“The fact that these high grade results are at the same depth as Stonepark North and of similar geological character suggests an extension. While it is still early days the evidence is pointing toward a significant orebody at Stonepark/Stonepark North,” said John Teeling, chairman of Connemara Mining.

Two drill rigs are currently on site and approximately 10,000 metres of diamond drilling is planned for 2010.

The earlier reported results from Stonepark North defined a flat-lying zone of zinc-lead mineralization with a strike length of at least 500 metres in a north-south direction. The zone is located approximately 2 km north of the original Stonepark discovery and appears to represent the shallower, up-dip portion of a larger mineralizing system. The results outlined above either significantly extend this zone or are part of a new zone.

The drilling programme is a joint venture with and operated by Teck Ireland, a subsidiary of Teck Resources Limited – Canada’s largest diversified mining company.
