A 63-YEAR-OLD Connemara man has been sent forward for trial charged with the sexual abuse of a child over a two-year period during the 1970s.
The man, who may not be named for legal reasons, is charged with indecently assaulting a girl on dates between July 1st, 1973, and July 22nd, 1975, at a Connemara location.
Garda Danielle Kennedy gave evidence at Galway District Court yesterday of serving a book of evidence on the accused.
She said the man had replied “I didn’t do it” when the six sample charges were put to him.
Judge Mary Fahy returned the man for trial to Galway Circuit Criminal Court on October 5th next. He was remanded on continuing bail to that date on condition that he sign on every Monday at his local Garda station. He was also told to have no contact with the alleged victim or other witnesses.
