IEX-listed exploration company Conroy Diamonds and Gold is to carry out a scoping study at its Clontibret gold project immediately, it said today.

The company has hired international consultants Wardrop Engineering Incorporated to conduct the study, which will be part of the process in determining if the current one million ounce gold resource can support a profitable mining operation.

The company's Clontibret project, which is its most advanced gold project, comprises an indicated resource of 11 million tonnes grading 1.24 g/t gold for 440,000 oz contained, and an inferred resource of 14 million tonnes at a grade of 1.32 g/t for 590,000 oz contained.

The study is expected to consider the implications of nearby discoveries, including Clay Lake where Conroy recently announced positive drilling results, and Glenish.
