The Irish construction industry continued to grow in June, with the number of people employed rising by more than 2 per cent.
According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics office, employment in private firms grew by 2.7 per cent during the month, compared with a year earlier. The monthly employment index increased to 111.0 from 108.1 in June 2005.
Revised growth figures for May 2006 saw the rise in the number of people employed in the construction industry drop to 2.5 per cent, down from 2.7 per cent in April.
