The High Court yesterday ordered the closure of a construction site in Wexford town until specific works were carried out to reduce the risk to safety and health to a "reasonable level".
Mr William Murphy, a health and safety inspector with the National Authority for Occupational Safety and Health, said the risk to safety and health of persons at Nunns Lane, Commercial Quay, Wexford, was so serious that construction should be prohibited until remedial work was carried out.
Mr Justice O'Higgins made an order against the main contractors, Pat Neville and Sons Ltd, prohibiting work being carried out with the exception of work necessary to comply with requirements of the safety inspector.
