It’s rare to find new homeware shops opening these days, but John Adams, a former general manager of Habitat Ireland, has taken the plunge with Article, a new spot upstairs in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre.
What you will find there is a beautifully edited range of affordable contemporary tableware and accessories. This includes stoneware by Belgian ceramicist Anja Meeusen, graphic textiles and ceramics by UK designer Snowden Flood and cushions made from fabric designed by Turner Prize-winning artist Grayson Perry. It’s a place to pick up small items with lots of personality or buy a gift for a design-aware friend. There’s also plenty of colourful glassware and china for everyday use, all with some form of a twist – be it decorated with a print or made in an unusual shape. The shop itself is elegantly grey and white, with a mezzanine level given over to inexpensive art prints and a selection of frames.
