Thumbs up:We're unaccustomed to seeing prices fall in Ireland, so hats off to directory enquiries company 11890, which is substantially cheaper than its two rivals in the Irish market.
A one-minute call to 11890 costs 71 cent, while a call to 11811 is 96 cent and a one-minute enquiry with 11850 is €1.14 - an 89 cent "set up" charge and 25 cent per minute on top of that.
Pink stink
Thumbs down:A New York woman is suing a florist for more than $400,000 (€282,000) because the flowers they provided for her wedding were the "wrong shade". Elana Glatt, a lawyer, is taking the action because the florists apparently swapped pastel pink and green hydrangeas for the dark rust and green ones she had specified. The florist said that he and his wife tried to match the colour of the hydrangeas with a picture Glatt had given them, but had explained the colours might not look the same. "My father used to tell me, 'Don't deal with the lawyers,'" he said. "Maybe he was right."
iPhone, you phone
Thumbs up:Apple is to allow outside developers create programmes for its precious iPhone, removing an annoying restriction. Would-be programmers will need a special kit which won't be available until next year as Apple works out how to open up its phone without exposing it to malicious programs.
