Hats off to Vivas Health and its new website, www.vivashealth.ie, which has an easy-to-use tool allowing for instant pricing comparisons between all three insurers. Surprisingly, perhaps, the calculator seems to be pretty impartial, and Quinn Insurance comes out on top on quite a few of the policies we tried.

Thumbs down:A British supermarket chain is dropping music singles in the wake of the success of digital downloads. Asda will stop selling singles after around 20 years to concentrate solely on albums. It said dwindling customer demand for singles sold instore was down to cheaper album prices and the popularity of digital downloads.
Organic beauty
Thumbs up:Our growing taste for organic products is extending to beauty products, and around 200 new organic and "all natural" toiletry goods have launched in Ireland and Britain already this year.
That figure more than doubled the 73 organic beauty products launched during 2006.
