We moved from the US and have lived at Park West since June. When I lived in Connecticut I had broadband and in the five years there it was out of service three times, twice in major snow storms and once when all the power was out. Since moving to Park West our broadband has been out of service on at least seven occasions in less than eight months. Definitely Ireland is a first world country with a third world infrastructure, and I will not even talk about the M50, traffic and customer service! Declan Sheehy
This may sound pedantic, and obviously our telecommunications and transport infrastructure (and of course health services) are embarrassing in light of the wealth we have generated in the last 15 years, but calling it "third world" sounds vacuous and disrespectful of those who genuinely have to live in third world conditions.
