While it's hard not to like selection boxes, they do generate a fierce amount of unnecessary waste and much of the packaging is clearly designed to create the impression among the impressionable that the Christmassy treat is more substantial than is actually the case.
In response to what it says is a demand from its customers for a greener Christmas, Nestlé Ireland has released a selection box which is made with 25 per cent less packaging than last year. It might not be a huge difference but it is a step in the right direction.
