A Dublin couple were advised, yesterday to secure legal representation before being dealt with for contempt arising out of the collapse of another man's shooting trial.
The State discontinued the prosecution against a 46-year-old Gallanstown man in January when Mr Paul Maguire and Mr Linda Melia failed to appear to give evidence.
Mr Maguire (29), of Colepark Road, Ballyfermot, was allegedly shot in the leg when he answered the front door of Ms Melia's home in Gallanstown Drive, Ballyfermot, at 10.15 p.m. on April 17th, 1995. Ms Melia, who is the mother of Mr Maguire's two children, was to be an important prosecution witness.
Following the alleged shooting, the Gallanstown man was charged with possession of a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life and shooting Mr Maguire with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
