Dublin-based software firm Datalex said this morning it is experiencing delays in the closure of contracts that will have an impact on sales and will lead to profits being below expectations.

Sales in the second half are expected to be broadly in line with those in the first half.

"Despite these timing issues relating to contract delays, the company continues to be positive about an improvement in performance for 2004," it said in a trading statement.

It also said that through a strategic alliance with electronic global distribution services provider, Galileo, Datalex will implement its internet booking engine as part of a reservations hosting technology and network management contract between Galileo and US carrier United Airlines.
