One of Northern Ireland's best known local theatres has been badly flooded after a downpour.
Piping in the Burnavon in Cookstown was overwhelmed, and up to six feet of water flooded the basement after last night's storms. Supermarkets and houses in the Co Tyrone town were also affected.
Firefighters at the Burnavon spent hours battling the rising water, which at one stage threatened the entire auditorium. The phone and heating systems have been damaged as well as lighting controls for the stage.
Manager Tony McCance said: "The sheer force of the water has thrown pipes around the whole area." He claimed the volume of water going through the public gutters had been so great that it had forced its way into the basement.
