Ms Beverley Cooper-Flynn TD has yet to decide whether or not to appeal her failed libel action in the Supreme Court.
Despite reports earlier today from her constituency office that a decision had been made and a statement was pending, it now appears Ms Cooper-Flynn needs more time to consider grounds for an appeal.
Ms Cooper-Flynn faces a legal bill close to £2 million following a High Court ruling that she was liable for the costs of all sides in her case against RTÉ, Mr Charlie Bird and Mr James Howard.
Inability to pay this sum would open up the prospect of bankruptcy proceedings. Should she be declared bankrupt Ms Cooper-Flynn automatically forfeits her Dáil seat.
