A major conference on sexual violence starts today in University College Cork.
The conference entitled Sexual Violence: The Way Forwardlasts two days and will discuss a series of issues related to the subject of sexual violence with emphasis on therapeutic and legal perspectives.
The conference will be chaired by Miriam O'Callaghan and was opened this morning by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Colm Burke. Delegates will be addressed in the morning by the Minister for Health and Children, Micheál Martin.
Other speakers include, Ellen Bass, Laura Davis, Dr Stephanie O'Keefe, Tom O'Malley and the Director of the Cork Rape Crisis Centre, Mary Crilly.
The conference is being held to commemorate 21 years of the Cork Rape Crisis Centre and coincides with a change of the centre's name to Sexual Violence Centre, Cork.
