A 37-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded on bail after he was charged in connection with a €600,000 drugs seizures by officers from the Cork City divisional drugs squad on the outskirts of the city on Monday.
Mark Timothy O’Connor, originally from Fair Hill in Cork city but now with an address in east Cork, was charged with a total of six offences contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act when he appeared at Cork District Court yesterday.
Mr O’Connor was charged with two counts of possession of cannabis and two of possession of cannabis for sale or supply, along with one count of possession of cannabis resin and one of possession of cannabis resin for sale or supply, all on November 28th.
Det Garda Ian Cahalane gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution, and said Mr O’Connor made no reply after caution to the charges, which relate to two locations in Sallybrook and Carrigtwohill in Co Cork.
Det Garda Cahalane said the Garda had no objection to bail once certain conditions were met, including that Mr O’Connor reside at a certain address in east Cork, that he notify the Garda of any change from that address and that he surrender his passport to the Garda.
He said the Garda was also seeking that Mr O’Connor observe a curfew between 9pm and 9am and that he sign on daily between 9am and 9pm at Midleton Garda station. The Garda was also seeking a substantial bail in the case.
Mr O’Connor’s solicitor, Frank Buttimer, said his client was willing to meet all the bail conditions sought by the Garda, and Judge Con O’Leary remanded Mr O’Connor on his own bail of €10,000 to appear again at Cork District Court tomorrow.
